Reflecting on a Year of Growth: Seneca High School's Professional Development Initiatives in 23-24
As we conclude another great academic year at Seneca High School, we reflect with pride on the professional development initiatives that have enhanced our staff's skills. Throughout the 23-24 school year, our focus remained on equipping our educators with the knowledge and tools necessary to excel in their roles, while also fostering a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
One emphasis during this academic year was on enhancing the capabilities of our special education staff through Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training. This vital program, which included re-certification for most, equipped our dedicated professionals with the skills and strategies needed to effectively manage crisis situations.
Furthermore, the safety and preparedness of our entire staff were prioritized through comprehensive ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) and AED training. By ensuring that all staff members were up-to-date with the latest protocols and techniques, we reaffirmed our commitment to maintaining a secure learning environment for everyone in our school community. Additionally, sessions that afternoon included EpiPen administration led by Nurse Schmidt, Stop the Bleed training facilitated by Athletic Trainer Jackson, and Trauma-Informed Classrooms presented by Mrs. Rockrohr and Mrs. Leake.
In October, we were honored to welcome Joe Sanfelippo, a renowned motivational speaker, as our guest. His inspiring message resonated deeply with our staff, empowering them to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm and creativity.
In February, we hosted a dynamic Technology Roundtable for our faculty, providing an opportunity for educators to learn with cutting-edge tools and resources. Facilitated by our own SHS teachers, the roundtable featured five informative sessions covering a range of topics, including Gymkit, Google Classroom, Magic School AI, Gmail, Adobe Firefly, and Turnitin. The dedication and expertise of our teachers were on full display as they facilitated all sessions, sharing best practices and innovative approaches to integrating technology into the classroom.
As we look back on the successes and growth of the 23-24 school year, we are excited to continue building upon these initiatives to further support the professional development and success of our staff and students in the years to come.
