McCarthy, Mr. Dan
Math Department
Mr. Dan McCarthy has taught at Seneca High School since the 2009-2010 school year. Mr. McCarthy has previously taught Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, Algebra 2, Applied Geometry and Geometry. He is currently teaching Algebra 1B and Algebra 2. Mr. McCarthy graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics Education from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois and a Master's degree in Teaching, Learning, and Assessment from National Louis University.
During his time in college, Mr. McCarthy played 4 years of basketball with the Fighting Saints under Coach Pat Sullivan. Mr. McCarthy grew up in Shorewood, IL and graduated from Joliet Catholic Academy in 2004. At JCA, Mr. McCarthy played baseball and basketball including a second place state finish in baseball in 2004.
Here at Seneca High School, Mr. McCarthy is a sophomore class sponsor, sophomore baseball coach, and varsity assistant boys basketball coach. He has also coached both sports at the sophomore boy’s level at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, IL. Mr. McCarthy is very interested in sports, especially the Chicago White Sox. He also enjoys golfing in his free time and spending time with his family.
